Karim Khan citadel is located in the center of Shiraz. A castle that was built during Zand dynasty and was used as a military base and Karim Khan living quarter. Qajar shahs used the complex as governor's seat, during Pahlavi dynasty the citadel was used as a prison. Today however Arg-e Karim Khan serves as a museum and is operated by Iran cultural heritage organization. The best architects of the country built the citadel with the best construction materials making this castle one of the greatest monuments of Iranian history.

When you enter the courtyard, you see a wind catcher, right beneath it you will see a building where Karim Khan used to hold his official meetings and attend to affairs of his kingdom.

The castle is also known for its leaning tower. If you look at one of the watch towers, it seems like the tower is about to collapse, but it has been like that ever since it was built.

On the south eastern corner of the courtyard, there’s a door that leads to the bathhouse. This beautifully designed bathhouse has got all the architectural sections of any similar structures, which make it worth a visit. The simple yet admirable plasterwork decorations on the walls of bathhouse, flowers and nature art on the walls and doors, resemble the artistic spirit of Shirazi builders and proves that they have always been inspired by their emotions.
